Description

From Monday 10th November to Friday 12th. December, the Fundraising Department is looking for volunteers to help them with their Light Up A Memory Christmas Campaign for three hours in the morning or two hours in the afternoon.

This volunteer opportunity involves helping Milford Care Centre with their Christmas campaign, which aims to reduce their environmental impact by transitioning to online Light up a Memory, whilst supporting their fundraising efforts.

What does the role involve

  • Meeting with the Public: To meet with members of the public who come to the Light Up a Memory Desk (LUAM).
  • Assisting with Sponsorship of lights: Volunteers will assist individuals in sponsoring lights on the Memorial tree. 
  • Processing Old Forms: Volunteers may need to process old paper forms that supporters bring to the LUAM desk.
  • Providing LUAM Materials: Distribute LUAM cards, Christmas cards, candles and robin brooches to supporters who visit the desk
  • Handling Phone Calls: Receiving and returning calls from individuals who wish to sponsor lights over the phone.
  • Working Independently and as a Team: Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Online Payment Processing: Volunteers should be comfortable using the internet and processing payments on behalf of donors through the Milford Care Centre’s official website and credit card machine.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Fundraising Department staff will be available to answer any questions or provide support daily.  The LUAM desk will be located in the Reception of Milford House and is near the Fundraising office.  The volunteer commitment is for approximately 3 hours on a set day of each week between November 10th and 12th December 2025.  You can let us know which day works best for you and if morning or afternoon of i.e. each Monday or Tuesday etc.

The tasks are meeting with the public, represent Milford at the LUAM desk and answer any questions or queries raised.  Its a lovely role, suitable for outgoing personalities and we look forward to working with you.
