DiME Executive Committee 2020/21
Diversity in Medical Education (DiME)
I was delighted to have the opportunity to become part of the UNICEF clubs Ireland initiative. For many years I have admired the amazing work that UNICEF and its outstanding members have done to save children’s lives, to defend their rights, and to help them fulfil their potential right from early childhood. I was motivated by the opinion of UNICEF that college students are integral to the promotion of the development of the lives of young people. I completely agree with this, and I decided to join the initiative because for too long I have taken for granted the array of opportunities I’ve had right through my childhood, compared to children from more disadvantaged areas of the world. Children all around the world in poverty-stricken or war-torn areas suffer severely, and I thought that if joining UNICEF clubs would even give me the chance to improve the life of one child, then it would be extremely worthwhile and rewarding. I would highly recommend students who are passionate about the creation of opportunities for children to get involved in the vast array of clubs and activities arranged by UNICEF, you won’t regret it!
