Description

The Student Representative Committee Member will be a registered student in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and/or Graduate levels. They will support the School of Nursing and Midwifery External Communications and Relations Committee by contributing a student perspective to outreach, engagement, and communication activities. This role helps strengthen connections between the university, its students, external partners, and the wider community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide student insights to inform external communication strategies and engagement initiatives.
  • Assist in reviewing and developing content for public‑facing platforms (e.g., newsletters, events materials, social media messaging).
  • Participate in committee meetings and contribute actively to discussions and planning.
  • Help promote university events, opportunities, and outreach activities to the student body.

Time Commitment

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Typical tasks for a Student Representative on the School of Nursing and Midwifery External Communications & Relations Committee

1. Provide the Student Voice

  • Share student perspectives on proposed communications, events, and outreach activities.

2. Support External Engagement Activities

  • Assist with planning or promoting events around school promotion to current and prospective students.

3. Review and Contribute to Communications

  • Provide feedback on student‑facing or public‑facing content (website updates, newsletters, social media messaging, outreach materials).
  • Suggest ideas for content that resonates with current and prospective students.

4. Promote Opportunities to Students

  • Share information about volunteering, events, workshops, or initiatives related to external engagement.
  • Act as a communication link between the committee and the wider student body.

5. Support Committee Projects

  • Participate in working groups if specific initiatives require student input.

6. Attend and Participate in Meetings

  • Join regular committee meetings (usually every second month, online for 1 hour).
  • Contribute actively to discussions, take part in decision‑making, and follow up on assigned actions.

7. Build Partnerships and Awareness

  • Help strengthen relationships with external stakeholders by offering a student presence and perspective.
  • Represent the university and committee in a positive, professional manner.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Committee Meetings are held every second month, online for one hour. It is anticipated that there will be 2-3 hours work between these meetings.
