Want to welcome migrants into Ireland through the English language?

Failte Isteach run by Third Age Ireland is a great way of supporting migrants into Ireland through volunteering activity.

TU Dublin students began a Failte Isteach class during covid and classes ran successfully online.

Now we are back together we would like to set up a regular conversation class with the help and support of the team at Third Age Ireland and their Failte Isteach team.

We are looking for 2/3/4 students in TU Dublin, to join together and set up a group to teach a group of migrants.

The exact time commitment should be approximately two hours week - but most importantly this volunteering opportunity will be designed to work around your schedule.

Third Age offer training and ongoing support including toolkits and teaching resources to all new groups and you will be supported by TU Dublin Student Volunteering team too.

You do not need to have a qualification as an English teacher at all but you must have a good level of fluency as an english speaker and be confident in front of small groups and enthusiastic about welcoming people to Ireland and helping them to feel settled and more independent here.

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Organise and attend a weekly English conversation class on campus as part of a small and supportive student team.

Passionate about welcoming people to Ireland 

Details of time commitment needed for role:
The times will depend on when you and the group have space in your schedule.

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week

Additional screening required for this role:
You will meet with the Volunteering Co-ordinator and the team at Failte Isteach and you will receive training opportunities.
