You as a volunteer will have a key role in this project. The conversations that you will have with people will make a difference.

We do not expect you to be experts on anti-human trafficking, you will be the starting point for people to find out more about trafficking.
Your role as volunteer

There is a volunteer pack with lots of key information that volunteers recieve.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

  • While staffing the GIFT box you represent the project STOP THE TRAFFIK and the United Nations Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking (UN.GIFT) as well as the Loreto Sisters and Act to Prevent Trafficking (Ireland) who are the host organisation for this tour of the box in Ireland.
  •  Engaging local, national and international visitors in the issue of human trafficking by inviting them to experience the GIFT box
  • Informing visitors about what they can do to take action against people trafficking in their own lives
  • Conducting grassroots research through collating information from visitors and from observations at the GIFT box sites on potential cases of trafficking

Skills required for this role:

  • Interest in Human Rights
  • Ability to talk to members of the public about Human Trafficking - we do not expect you to be an expert. This exhibition is a way to open up conversation.

--March 16th-18th The box will be in Cork-- --March 19th-22nd The box will be in Tralee-- --March 22nd-23rd The box will be in Galway-- --March 24th-25th The box will be in Athlone-- --March 26th-26th The box will be in Maynooth--

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week

Level of English required for the role:
Good Spoken English
