UCD Fáilte Refugees is a student-led campaign that aims to:

- Increase awareness of the global migration crisis.

- Empower the students of Ireland to be agents of change.

- Motivate the people of Ireland to support the Irish Government to stand by its commitment of accepting at least 4000 refugees.

- Welcome refugees into every community in Ireland and support their integration into Irish society.

Fáilte Isteach is a community project involving predominantly older volunteers welcoming migrants through conversational English classes. 
The project provides the necessary language skills to new migrants in a student-centred, welcoming and inclusive manner while involving volunteers and recognising their skills, expertise and contribution to the community.

UCD Fáilte Refugees have partnered with Fáilte Isteach and are looking for student volunteers to offer conversational English classes to migrants from the community. 

The classes will be held weekly for 8 weeks in UCD on Monday evenings, from Monday 30th September 2019 until Monday 18th November 2019, from 6:30pm until 8:30pm.

Please note, you must be available to commit to attending at minimum four of the eight classes.

Full training will be provided during the week beginning September 23rd 2019.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Undertake 2 hour training course, ran by a staff member from Third Age Ireland, who run Fáilte Isteach classes.

Engage in conversational English classes with migrants from the community.

Friendly, approachable

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Monday evenings for 8 weeks, 2 hours per week.

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week

Additional screening required for this role:
Garda vetting will be required for this role.
