Volunteer Role: Thrive Community Support Volunteer (Administration & Promotion)

About Thrive
Thrive is an international movement that supports communities to build and nurture mental health and wellbeing through local engagement, connection, and activities. In Ireland, Thrive is supported by Mental Health Ireland and is shaped and led by local communities. Thrive projects are currently active in Balbriggan, Swords, and Connemara, with plans for further growth.

Role Purpose
The Thrive Community Support Volunteer will assist in the smooth running and promotion of Thrive activities within the Connemara community. This role plays an important part in ensuring that Thrive projects are well-organised, inclusive, and visible, helping to strengthen community wellbeing and connection.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support for Thrive events and meetings (e.g., maintaining participant lists, managing communications, organising materials).

  • Support the coordination and promotion of community activities, workshops, and campaigns.

  • Assist with creating and sharing promotional content across digital and local channels (social media, newsletters, posters, etc.).

  • Liaise with local partners, volunteers, and participants to encourage engagement and participation.

  • Contribute creative ideas for promoting mental health awareness and community wellbeing.

  • Attend planning or volunteer meetings as required.

Skills, Experience, and Qualities Required

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

  • Basic computer literacy and familiarity with email, Word, and social media platforms.

  • Enthusiasm for mental health promotion and community development.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Reliability, positivity, and a friendly approach.

Training and Support
Volunteers will receive an induction to Thrive and ongoing support from the local Thrive coordinator and Mental Health Ireland. 

Time Commitment
Flexible, depending on volunteer availability and local project needs. Typically, 2–4 hours per month, with occasional meetings or events.

Online/Connemara region
