Description

The Ernie Els #Game On Autism Golf Programme is an activity programme for young people with Autism. The programme involves golf lessons with a PGA coach, who is ably assisted by volunteers, whereby participants have one to one support in following and practising new skills around golf. The Game ON club consists of approx 12 youngsters, there is a team of committed volunteers, and we would welcome new additions to this team to continue providing golf opportunities for people with autism. The club meets in the new sports hall in the Kerry Sports Academy (KSA) on Thursdays from 5-6 and we also locate in Castlegregory Golf Club in Spring/Summer

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

tWe would like some support for he following tasks: working with the participants in following instruction and practising golf skills on the golf course; helping with refreshments after the club sessions; maintaining a photo/video record of sessions, for our facebook page: GameOn Autism Golf Program - Ireland. 

Skills required for this role:

An ability to work with people in a sports coaching capacity would be useful, but not essential, on the job training provided.

There are lots of training opportunities available such as on Autism & Physical activity, and also a PGA Assistant Level 1 coaching award may be available to those demonstrating interest and aptitude.

 Also very good on-line resources through the Els Foundation (Florida) are available to those with an interest in learning more about autism and physical activity. Further training is available on the programme to ensure assimilation into the programme is seamless.

Thursdays 5-6.30pm

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
