VIDES Ireland is part of an international volunteering organisation which promotes voluntary service in Africa in a safe environment working with young people and women in schools, clubs, health centres, homes.
Costs include travel and personal expenses only. Training is provided prior to departure to explore motivations and expectations, responsible volunteering, intercultural learning, etc.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Volunteer work will involve responding to what is needed at local level. This may include literacy and numeracy in small groups, preschool, help with homework, arts and crafts, photography, healthcare, counselling, youthwork, drama, music, refurbishment, etc.
Skills required for this role:
All skills are useful and utilised. Above all it is about being present, open and having a positive attitude.

Available throughout the week at required times
Minimum time commitment per week:
10+ hour p/week
Additional screening required for this role:
Application form, interview, references, Garda clearance, attendance at volunteer meetings (3 Saturdays in the year), training day, workshop.
