The CKI - Community Knowledge Initiative- is the home of civic engagement at the University of Galway. The ALIVE student volunteering programme was born from the CKI and many other projects with NGOs, non-profits and community groups.
The CKI aims to promote greater civic engagement through core academic activities, namely teaching, research and service at the levels of students, staff, courses, programmes and the institution as a whole.
