Description

dlr Community Volunteers is a group of volunteers managed and supported by Dún Laoghaire Rathdown Volunteer Centre. These volunteers help support once-off events and urgent community responses. Once you’re signed up, we will share different volunteer opportunities with you. These opportunities are only available to Community Volunteers.

You can then sign up for the events that interest and suit you. As a dlr Community Volunteer you will be invited to sign-up to any available Community Volunteer roles. You can get involved as often or as little as you like. Many events are once-off and ask volunteers to give a couple of hours. Giving you the choice of a variety of volunteer roles, that fit into your schedule.

Example of events: Booterstown Nature Reserve Clean-up, Ukulele Hooley Festival, dlr Community 5K, Covid-19 Vaccination Centres, Stepaside St. Patrick's Day Parade, Citywest International Protection Applicant Welcome Centre, & Ukraine Donation Hubs.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Each role is different. Examples of some of the tasks Community Volunteers have taken on:

• Event Stewarding
• Crowd Management
• Signing-in Event Participants
• Accepting and Organising Donations
• Beach Cleans
• Answer Questions at Events
• Hand Out Flyers to Event Participants

Skills required for this role:

• Be able to interact in a polite, welcoming manner with a wide range of people
• Be dependable and punctual
• Have basic organisation skills
• Have basic English
• Want to help the local community

Details of time commitment needed for role:
These are once-off events and you can choose the ones that suit your interests and time available.

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
