SERVE are an International Development & Overseas Volunteering organisation working in over 10 countries over 3 continents.

We are not actively recruiting for volunteers at the moment but will be in the very near future. We ask that you leave contact information which we can use to contact you about exciting opportunities to volunteer in Ireland or overseas in person (once restrictions allow) or virtually.

Please provide us with:

  • Name
  • Email address (or phone number if you prefer)
  • A little bit about yourself/what skills you offer

Over the past year, we have run two exciting programmes

  • Think Global, Act Local - This programme ran from April-October 2021 and gave participants the opportunity to meet like-minded people from across Ireland and explore issues in justice, solidarity, and the Global Goals. We provided Global Citizenship Education and Personal Development Modules that enhanced their knowledge and skills, and gave a strong grounding in global issues and how to effectively advocate for positive change. In-person and virtual volunteering opportunities allow our participants to connect with and directly support communities in Ireland and in the Global South that are tackling the interlinked challenges of inequality, injustice, and the growing impact of Climate Change.
  • Global Goals trail - A group of volunteers created a Global Goals trail at our site in Blackrock, Co. Cork to educate visitors about the Sustainable Development Goals and how they can be achieved. Participants benefited from a wide range of training workshops ranging from Climate Action to Biodiversity. The trail was made from repurposed materials and included a mural by Zimbabwean artist currently residing in Direct Provision, Elton Sibanda.

In the coming year there are exciting opportunities in the works including:

  • Further development of the Global Goals trail
  • A new year and new programme of Think Global, Act Local
  • Virtual Volunteering opportunities with our partners in countries in the Majority World
    • Eg Conversational English classes with young people in Vietnam with our partner Centre for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS)
  • Being part of Global Education in Ireland
  • When it is safe to do so - the revival of our overseas volunteering programmes in Zambia, Mozambique, India, Vietnam and The Philippines

Is training provided?: Yes
