Description

Volunteer opportunities are open to students who are willing to commit their time to support a young person, through the Big Brother Big Sister programme (BBBS).

BBBS is an internationally renowned youth mentoring programme that forms supportive friendships between a young person and an adult volunteer.  The Programme Officer matches a young person (10-18 years) in need of support with an adult volunteer based on common interests and personality. They meet once a week, for a year, and together they decide on the type of activities that they both enjoy and would like to do. Weekly meetings include activities that they both enjoy such as sports, computer games, music, walks, art and craft, cooking, baking etc.This role can be flexible for both the mentor and the young person, meetings will happen at a place and time that is mutually convenient. All volunteers are carefully screened and will receive training and support from professional staff.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Maintain communication throughout the match with the appointed staff person

Details of time commitment needed for role:
This role can be flexible for both the mentor and the young person, meetings will happen at a place and time that is mutually convenient Monday - Sunday

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week

Additional screening required for this role:
Recruitment Process: Application Form & Reference Checks, Garda Vetting, Interview, Home Visit, Child Protection & Induction Training. Successful applicants will receive formal notification of acceptance onto the programme
