Description

The S*xual Violence and Harassment Prevention and Response Programme Coordinator & the Active* Consent programme are recruiting for Campus Consent Champions.

Campus Consent Champions will be a network of student leaders for initiatives on consent, sexual health & well-being and active bystanders.

We are looking for student representatives to support consent-related initiatives running on campus each semester. These will include facilitating Active* Consent in-person workshops, handing out resources at Consent Week and SHAG Week, and other related activities. Champions would be supported by Rebecca Connolly and the Active* Consent Team throughout the duration of their volunteer work.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

  • Attending the Active* Consent Champion & Facilitator trainings & the Galway Rape Crisis Centre Student disclosure training.
  • Co-Facilitating Active* Consent workshops for groups of students on campus
  • Help on occasion with consent promotion initiatives on campus
  • Create/contribute content to our social media outputs
  • Raise the profile of University of Galway as a consenting campus and represent the University of Galway student voice.

Skills required for this role:

  • Interest in building a positive consent culture on campus, developing active bystander skills and supporting sexual health and wellbeing
  • Good communication skills
  • Team player
  • Leadership skills
  • Flexibility in terms of hours when involved in workshops or initiatives on campus

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Approx 20 hours per semester, in addition to training. Times & dates will be flexible.

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week
