The Student Community Engagement Liaision Officer (SCELO) works in the local communities/housing estates adjacent to UL Monday to Thursday from 5pm-8pm weekly. This volunteer oppurtunity involves engaging with both students and members of the local community to establish where they require support and also cleaning up estates where rubbish is a feature during term time.
The SCELO is a support for students from UL and while the focus is supporting all members of the community this is also an opportunity for students to learn more about the local community and become involved in community initatives that arise throughout the academic year

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Tasks may vary from week to week depending on the needs of the community. We will be cleaning up areas identified by the community and the SCELO will be with you to do the cleaning to.
Some older people in the community may experience situations where they may need assistance. Ultimately we all need to be open to what the needs are.

Friendliness, Non-Judgemental, interesed in the local environment, open to meet new people
Details of time commitment needed for role:
Students can avail of this opportunity as much or as little as they like.
The SCELO works Monday-Thursday 5pm-8pm so whichever suits students all help and support is appreciated.
Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week
