Dublin Zoo Summer Camp Volunteers Required

Dublin Zoo is seeking volunteers to assist with our hugely popular kids Summer Camps. This is a unique opportunity to experience fun, educational, animal themed activities in Ireland’s largest living classroom! Our camps are for 6–12 year olds, based in venues throughout the Dublin  zoo.

 

[NOTE: there is no direct animal contact involved in the camps] 

Successful applicants will have enthusiasm, energy, a passion for wildlife and a keen interest or background in working with young people. Experience is not essential and training is provided. Summer Camp volunteers will gain valuable experience in conservation education, leadership, youth work and knowledge of the natural world.

  • Volunteering will be Monday – Friday for a minimum of 2 weeks and up to 4 weeks over July & August. First week of Camp starts July 17th.
  • Potential Candidates will be required to attend an Open Day on June 28th and if successful two training days on the 12th & 13th July.
  • Applicants must be over 18 years of age.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Volunteers will work alongside our professional educators assisting them with fun educational, conservation themed activities with our Summer Camp attendees. Volunteers are assigned to a group of 5-12 year olds for the duration of their week long camp. 

Volunteers are in a support role and full training and guidance is provided. 

Skills required for this role:

Skills required: Good Reliability, committed and Communication skills. Enthusiasm, energy, a passion for wildlife and a keen interest or background in working with young people. 

Training is provided. Summer Camp volunteers will gain valuable experience in conservation education, leadership, youth work and knowledge of the natural world.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Volunteering will be Monday – Friday for a minimum of 2 weeks and up to 4 weeks over July & August. First week of Camp starts July 17th. Potential Candidates will be required to attend an Open Day on June 28th and if successful two training days on the 12th & 13th July.

Minimum time commitment per week:
10+ hour p/week
