Trócaire will have a charity hut at the Galway Christmas market from the 2nd until the 8th December 2022.

The main tasks will be to give information to the public on our Christmas Gifts of Love and on our Christmas campaign. The volunteer will chat to the public about people that Trócaire supports overseas and how that support makes a difference in their lives.

The Gifts of Love will also be on sale in the hut. The volunteer may give information to the public on how to purchase the gifts, they may sell some gifts, and/or or accept donations through Trócaire's sealed donation box.

Volunteers will be getting coffee/tea at the hut, as kettle and the required items will be provided; there will also be breaks anytime provided that someone else is at the hut.

Is training provided?: Yes

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

  • Talk to the public about social justice issues and Trócaire's work
  • Give information on the Gifts of Love that are being sold for Christmas
  • Sell gifts and Christmas if needed
  • Ideally two volunteers will work together at any given time

Skills required for this role:

The volunteer should have friendly, polite and inviting manners to make people feel welcome in the charity hut.

No prior knowledge on Trócaire's work is needed as the volunteers will be given an induction before starting their involvement.

The Christmas market opening hours will be: Mon - Wed: 12noon - 8pm Thur - Sat: 10am - 10pm Sun: 10am - 8pm

Minimum time commitment per week:
4 hour p/week
