Volunteers at this club work together to create a fun atmosphere where the young people can make friends, enjoy themselves and develop new skills in a supportive environment. You will have the opportunity to bring your own personality to the table and get creative in developing activities with the young people. You will help them develop their confidence and social skills which is a deeply rewarding experience. Typical activities include board game nights, arts n crafts, science workshops, Nerf Wars, stand-up comedy nights, science shows, orienteering, football, bowling, mindfulness practice and more. Suggestions for activities come from the young people themselves and the choice of activity is developed and delivered in total consciousness of the capacities of the group themselves.

Leaders will be open to learning and developing a new club structure, open to working with teenagers with particular needs and challenges and be creative and dynamic to suggest and develop ideas of club activities with other leaders and young people. You will have the opportunity to develop a whole new skillset of your own while receiving ongoing support and training from Foroige.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

  • Volunteers with previous experience in working with young people experiencing Special Educational Needs.
  • Also if you are a  volunteer with empathy, willingness and enthusiasm for gaining experience working with young people with ASD, this position is for you!
  • Specialist skills in music, arts, drama, mindfulness, board games, animation all welcome

Skills required for this role:

  • An appreciation / experience of young people with ASD and related conditions are desirable but not essential.
  • A committed individual, open to learning, willing to share any life skills you might have acquired.
  • We are seeking upbeat individuals, who are patient and willing to listen to young people.
  • There are no particular educational requirements – we provide training.
