GEMs Extreme Medicine is student interest group with members from diverse healthcare backgrounds and education. The group is aimed at giving students opportunities to learn about practising medicine in mountains, ocean, and high-risk environments. Volunteers are needed to run simulations and organize teaching opportunities to expand the knowledge of all members of the group and school community.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

  • Organise simulations to expand the skills of group members and members of the community.
  • Develop teaching presentations aimed at developing the knowledge and skills required to provide medicine in austere environments.

Skills required for this role:

  • Knowledge of how to conduct a basic assessment of a patient's health condition.
  • Knowledge of basic first aid and performing primary surveys.

Dates and times fluctuate.

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
