Global Leadership in Sustainable Development (GLSD) is an immersive six-week extracurricular programme for Study Abroad students at University of Limerick, designed and delivered by UL Student Sustainability and UL Global. Students will gain a holistic understanding of economic, environmental, and social sustainable development by developing solutions to real-world problems, challenging their views and perspectives, and engaging with leading experts and organisations on the frontline of sustainable development.
The programme focuses on project-based learning geared towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals while also enabling students to develop competence to work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, develop project work and problem-solving skills, explore issues of social responsibility, ethical practice and in sustainable community contexts through immersive sessions, guest speakers, debates and site visits. It offers opportunities to explore a range of global and social issues of interest and concern to young people today in areas such as climate change, education, social inclusion/exclusion and diversity and multiculturalism.
Participating students will be eligible for the Plassey Presidents Volunteer Award, as well as receiving a certificate of completion from the programme.
