Requirements:Good understanding of Social Media, patience to do online research, enthusiasm for the goals of the organisation
GenerationTech is an organisation that started during the first Lockdown to help older people with their tech issues and is a free service, across the island of Ireland. We need help to get the message about what we do out to to Ireland's older public, frequently.
We do that through contact with newspapers, radio stations and journalists. The media seek constant refreshing of news angles, and this is where we need volunteers to create and manage that contact, but to also come up with new ways of "re-inventing" how we remain interesting as a news or community coverage item.
The skills needed from volunteers are not about taking calls, they are about using our PR tracking sheet to contact the journalists we want to cover us. This applies to Radio, Newspapers and ultimately TV, if we can!
We need the volunteers to create fresh and interesting articles to push up to our Social Media (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and website) and co-ordinate this messaging with shift leads to ensure calls resulting from coverage are also met with enough volunteers that day/ week etc.
These are important volunteers as they keep the life-blood of the organisation going - calls from those who need help - to keep the approx 40 volunteers answering those calls engaged.
We intend to expand the service in the the coming year, and beyond, and build into something sustainable and ever evolving. Join us - and grow with us.
PS we are also looking for 2 shift leads who do not take calls but help remove challenges for volunteers during their shift). We also need a volunteer officer to help setup and liaise with new volunteers to make sure they are bedded in, trained and comfortable with their role.
