Requirements:Applicant must be Garda Vetted with Balally FRC prior to commencement. Must have completed at least 2 years of Physiotherapy studies.
At the Balally Family Resource Centre (Sandyford, Dublin 16), we run courses and classes, which support many different members of our community. We are focused towards people who would benefit from additional support from building socialisation networks, enhancing and sharing skills to support positive mental and physical health. We aim to run a once weekly Mobility Support Group (for people with medium levels of mobility) from the centre for a limited number of adult members of our local community. We are recruiting a physiotherapy student volunteer to tutor our adult members.
The group will run for 8 weeks every Thursday from 12.00 pm till 1.30 pm. The tutor will have to arrive ten minutes in advance to set up.
We require individuals who are positive, empathetic and energetic, who enjoy working at a community level and who have the ability to work on their own initiative.
Applicants must have at least 2nd year level in Physiotherapy Studies.
Is training provided?: No
Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Tasks will include:
- Setting up for session
- Plan each group session for each week of an 8-week course
- Work with a small group of adults to enhance their mobility support
- Post group evaluation
- Clean up of space when the session, such as clearing away any equipment that may have been used, helping staff clear away chairs etc.
Skills required for this role:
Individuals must be:
- Positive and energetic
- Good listener
- Must be patient and show empathy
- Must have the ability to calmly deal with challenging situations which may arise from time to time
- Applicants must have at least 2nd year level in Physiotherapy Studies
Details of time commitment needed for role:
Thursday's from 12.00 pm till 1.30 pm for 8 weeks
Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week
