From women's rights to climate change, earthquakes to education, Oxfam Ireland carries out life-changing, ground-breaking work around the world. Our network of Oxfam shops throughout the island of Ireland are an important source of funding for this vital work.

Help us to raise funds by selling second hand and new clothes, books, jewellery, furniture and other items in your local Oxfam store. We particularly need volunteers who are available at weekends but also have weekday roles. If you are interested in sustainable fashion, social justice and an end to poverty worldwide, you'll be amongst like-minded people and helping to make a difference. If you see yourself managing a shop or other business in the future, you'll also gain valuable experience volunteering with us! Find out if there's a shop near you here: 

All volunteers receive training and induction, are supervised by a friendly, supportive member of staff and can claim local travel expenses to and from the shop (with a lunch allowance if volunteering from more than 5 hours a day)

Is training provided?: Yes

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

  • Assist with pricing, labelling and processing of stock
  • Replenish and rotate stock on shop floor
  • Receive donations from the public
  • Greet and interact with customers, handling enquiries and sales
  • Till duties and cash handling
  • Merchandising and shop displays
  • Promotion of shop stock, events etc. on social media

Skills required for this role:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Open and approachable manner
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn new skills 
  • Team player

Details of time commitment needed for role:
3-5 hours, once a week

Minimum time commitment per week:
3 hour p/week
