Requirements:Fluent Spanish and knowledge of Spanish culture/Conversational English
This role involves an informal meeting once a week for an hour in a Galway café to teach basic conversational Spanish and Spanish culture. The format would be similar to a language exchange. For safeguarding reasons it should ideally suit a female, preferably someone who speaks Spanish as a first language and has basic/intermediate/conversational English.
RehabCare is a national organisation supporting people with disablities. RISE Service is a community based outreach service for people with mild-moderation Intellectual Disability, and our client is seeking a Spanish language experience. A RehabCare staff member will provide induction to the role, and you will also be covered by RehabCare insurance while volunteering. A RehabCare staff member will be available to attend the first few meetings.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Meet a person with a disability once a week for an hour in a Galway café to teach basic conversational Spanish and Spanish culture.
Devise simple lesson/topic plans for each session and follow up with client the following week. The client already has a basic level of Spanish and has travelled in Spain.
There is a strong social element to this role in engaging with a person who is very sociable but has limited social opportunties.
Skills required for this role:
Fluent/native Spanish speaker ideally
Basic/Intermediate/Conversational English
Good interpersonal skills and ability to create positive relationship with person with a disabilitly
Committment and organisation skills
Lesson/topic planning
Patience
Details of time commitment needed for role:
1 hour per week, possibly a Mon, Wed or Fri morning 11-12pm, but this can be negotiated.
Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
