Description

This opportunity is suitable for students of Sports, Health and Fitness, or PE Teaching. Volunteers will gain experience in planning and running their own physical activity program for kids aged 8-12 years old. We are located in Charleville. Co. Cork, which is easily commutable from Cork or Limerick by bus and train (or car). The start date is flexible!

We are seeking either one or a small group of volunteers to establish a physical fitness/sports program for the children attending the Battview Matters Homework Club.

Our club meets from 3pm to 6pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays during term time and we allocate one hour each day to activities.

Is training provided?: No

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

  • Deliver a short program of physical activities to children aged 8-12 yrs old.
  • Commit to a program of between 6 and 8 weeks in length, to be delivered over term time only.
  • Utilise sports equipment already available, or bring your own.
  • Ensure child safety.

Skills required for this role:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience teaching children is desireable.
  • Strong interest and knowledge of appropriate sports and physical activities of children in this age range
  • Transport to Charleville

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Availability between 3pm and 5.30pm on Wednesday and/or Thursday during primary school term time.

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
