An Siols Afterschool club runs Monday to Thursday from 2:30 - 4:30. During the Club, we help young people with their homework, feed them a snack then engage them with fun activities that allow them to develop positive social relationships. We aim to address issues with mental wellbeing and social isolation from living in an urban area. 

Our club is made of a very diverse group of 40 young people with 10 attending each day, we are looking to expand our volunteer team to be able to provide a wide range of activities. We are hoping to find volunteers who will be willing to share their interests with our young people and help them to explore new experiences.

This opportunity could be once a week, fortnightly or just as a once-off, we are very flexible and open to any suggestions.

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Our team will help primary school children in completing their homework. They will then organise and run activities that will be fun and interactive. They will act as a role model and help to create a kind and caring atmosphere based on mutual respect between adults and young people.

Skills required for this role:

Kind, Caring, Fun, Playful, Punctual, Respectful, Helpful. But most of all just to be present for our young people.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Monday to Thursday 2:30 - 4:30. You can volunteer on as many days as you wish, but we ask that you give the full two hours up at least once a fortnight.

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week

Additional screening required for this role:
CV, Character reference, Garda vetting, Child Protection (Provided). Informal interview.
