Community Companions Moyross (CCM) with the support of Limerick Regeneration Agency, LEDP, HSE and TUSLA was set up in 2009 under the management of Moyross Community Enterprise Centre. Its core activity is about meeting people from Moyross, primarily in their own home but also in other community settings including primary school gate, on street and community centre. Being available to people who wish to talk, helping them to work through their issues. On the basis of talking to people and building up certain levels of trust and confidence, CCM can then be of assistance in a number of ways such as; befriending, advocacy, linking people with existing groups & courses. The nature of assistance will vary from person to person.

Volunteer Specification

“Community Companions Moyross are currently recruiting suitable volunteers to join our befriending visitation team in Moyross, Limerick City. This involves regular visitations in the home, allowing the person to talk and be listened to, opening up the possibility of social outings etc. Assisting in the running of existing social gatherings and clubs.

The purpose of the volunteer role is to listen, provide support to individuals, participate and effectively engage them in existing social activities, plan and implement successful connection to the community, and help evaluate and demonstrate the success of our work.

Volunteer support workers work as part of a team, and receive excellent support and supervision

Skills required: Good listener, enthusiastic, person-centred, non-judgmental, Keen team player.

Time commitment: 2 hours per week (Minimum).

Training: In-house training will be provided

Garda Vetting: Mandatory “

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week
