As a Volunteer Youth Leader with the new Enable Ireland & Foróige Youth Club, you will be joining a newly assembling team of individuals, who wish to get involved in the establishment of a new club for a small group of approximately 12 young teenagers, who attend Enable Ireland’s school. This new Club will be adapted from the Foróige Model, to provide a fun, safe, social outlet for this group of teenagers. The Club is pioneering Foróige’s best practices and approaches and adapted to accommodate as best possible, the physical and intellectual needs of the young people attending this Club - of which would be of a higher need. This new project will really benefit from volunteers who are willing and ready to provide extra TLC to these young people, in order to best meet their needs in a social club setting.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
As a Foróige Youth Leader with this Club, your role will be to work with fellow adult Leaders as part of a Team, to co-ordinate a once weekly Club session, following school term and extended into the early part of the summer holidays. The volunteer team will have responsibilities around the administration of the club, developing activity plans, taking responsibility for different activities and to work with Foróige and Enable and in so doing, create the club so that is a fun, enjoyable space for these young people
Skills required for this role:
Empathy, understanding, enthusiasm, commitment! This project is going to be a hugely significant addition to the lives of the young people who will be attending this Club. Any specifc skills, expertise and experience / knowledge in Medicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Sports, Youth Work or Social Care would be a huge advantage. This is a great opportunity to develop and strengthen academic knowledge and practical experience for future professional practice.
Details of time commitment needed for role:
Wednesday evenings from March - anticipated Club Time (Club Time core hours 1.5hrs plus approx 45 for prep and debrief) Some additional team meeting times and training time is required also.
Minimum time commitment per week:
3 hour p/week
