Big Brother Big Sister Kilkenny
Requirements:Must be aged 18+.
Big Brother Big Sister matches a young person (10-18 years), in need of friendship and support, to a caring adult volunteer mentor.
They meet once a week, for an hour or two, and the initial commitment is for one year.
Weekly meetings include activities that they both enjoy like sports, computers, music, art and craft etc Through these weekly meetings a friendship is formed.
Matches are of the same gender and are supported by professional staff.
Volunteers are fully trained and supported throughout their time as a Big Brother or Big Sister.
Is training provided?: Yes
Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.
Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Volunteers will be expected to connect with their young person once a week. The initial commitment is for one year.
Each week they will build a friendship by doing activities that they both enjoy!
Details of time commitment needed for role:
Volunteers and young people meet at a time that suits them both.
Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
Additional screening required for this role:
The volunteer application process includes an information session; application form; reference checks; Garda vetting; interview; home visit and training.
