Garryowen CDP is developing its range of community based programmes and wants to ensure that residents and other stakeholders are informed and consulted about these activities.  This will include information on early years programmes, youth work, physical activity programmes, local community groups and plans to build a new community centre.  

Overall Purpose

The PR & communications volunteer will work with staff and board members to develop and maintain the profile of Garryowen CDP in the community through the use of newsletters, local advertising, social media and door to door mailing.  

Specific Tasks

The volunteer will work with and be supported by staff in the following tasks:

Producing publicity materials; scheduling and updating website and social media;  Compiling the Garryowen newsletter; working with other volunteers on specific promotions; facilitating community consultation on local issues.

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Skills required for this role:

1/. Experience of Social Media

2/. Knowledge of Publishing Apps 

3., Good IT Skills

4/. Good written and verbal communication skills

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Hours can be flexible, but the volunteer must be willing to commit a minimum of 20 hours per month. Some hours can be done on campus or remotely.

Minimum time commitment per week:
3 hour p/week

Additional screening required for this role:
You will meet with a staff / board member of Garryowen CDP for an informal interview. Date TBC.
