Requirements:Friendly
The Free Dinner Trust has been operating for some years at Mallow St. Hall. The trust is a registered charity, is non-profit making and run entirely by volunteers. They have a kitchen and dining room situated in Mallow Street, Limerick City. A full dinner is served each Sunday to about 100 – 150 people of all ages between 1pm and 3.30pm. Anyone in need of a meal is welcomed.
We are looking for students in UL to help out on a Sunday.
The dinners take place every Sunday, including Christmas and Easter.
The voluntering work involves kitchen work preparing and serving food, washing up, setting up the dining area, taking orders and serving the dinners, and cleaning up afterwards, including hoovering and cleaning cookers etc.
The ethos of the project is that we make the experience as close to a family Sunday dinner as possible. Mutual respect within the whole group is taken as a given.
