Providing grinds tuition to second-level students in all years, who are struggling academically in a particular topic. The tutor will support a student, for one hour, once weekly during term time, in a subject that they are familiar with. They provide a valuable, positive space to support the student with their individual difficulties, helping them to reach their academic potential.
Grinds can be given in a variety of academic subjects, with a particular demand for Maths and Irish.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation, grinds will be delivered either online via Zoom or face-to-face with protective measures in place, depending on the needs of the volunteer and students. Given the valuable nature of the service, a high level of support is provided to the volunteers, in the form of training, induction and ongoing check-ins after each session. Support with IT will also be given for those using Zoom. 

In-person grinds will take place in Rahoon.

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position which will be processed with you after you apply.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Teaching/Tutoring/Supporting learning

Skills required for this role:

A background in education or a good level of understanding in the chosen subject (e.g. may suit college students). Good interpersonal skills and the ability to commit to one hour weekly on a regular basis.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
An hour and 15 minutes a week either on a Monday or Tuesday evening from 6.30-7.45pm

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
