Are you passionate about justice and fundamental freedoms?
These are at the heart of what Trócaire does and who we are. We believe that every woman, man and child is born equal and with the inalienable right to a dignified life, free from injustice. Trócaire’s aim is two-fold. Abroad, we give whatever help lies within our resources to the areas of greatest need. At home in Ireland, we raise awareness of the needs of these countries and of our duties towards them.
Trócaire is seeking people who are passionate about engaging their local communities, parish and young people in social justice issues to work with us as outreach volunteers in Limerick. Volunteers will support us in informing and engaging the Irish population in our work.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Volunteer tasks will include:
• Attending events on behalf of Trócaire
• Connecting with local groups, community groups and organisations to raise awareness on Trócaire’s work
• Delivering talks and presentations on Trócaire’s work in primary and/or /post primary schools (particularly during Lenten period)
• Delivering mass talks and taking part in local community groups talks (particularly during Lenten period)
• Collecting donation cheques on behalf of Trócaire in primary/post primary schools
• Sharing Trócaire actions and posts on social media
Skills required for this role:
• Have passion, empathy and basic understanding of Trócaire's values and work
• Energy and drive to work with people and inspire and motivate their engagement in global justice issues
• Flexibility and commitment
• Strong presentation skills
• Over 18 years of age
• Fluent spoken and written English
• Experience of working in formal or informal education/youth sectors (if interested in schools outreach)
• Availability to complete outreach during school opening hours (if interested in schools outreach)
• Full driving license and access to a vehicle (if tasks were located where public transport isn't available)
Details of time commitment needed for role:
You will be free to do as much or as little as you want. This is a very flexible volunteering that depends on opportunities available and on your availability.
It may include weekends and evenings.
Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
