Description

Darkness into Light is an annual walking event and fundraiser held all across Ireland in support of Pieta House. Pieta House supports people and communities in crisis by providing freely accessible, professional services to those affected by suicide, self-harm and stigma, replacing this with hope, self-care and acceptance.

Darkness Into Light participants will be encouraged to meet before dawn at Grangegorman on Saturday 7th May to walk or run for 5km and meet the sunrise together in solidarity.

Our TU Dublin Darkness Into Light Volunteer Committee will work closely with staff help to organise the logisitcs of the event on the day at Grangegorman and the promotion of the event and Pieta House in the lead up and afterwards.

We hope through the Darkness Into Light at TU Dublin Grangegorman will help raise awareness of Pieta House' services and help in their fundraising efforts.

The committee will meet regularly online and in person and you will be able to contribute in a way that fits in with your student timetable/ schedule.

Is training provided?: Yes

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

- Promotion of Darkness Into Light

- Event/ Stewarding on the day of the event and ability to get to get to Grangegorman very early in the morning (before sunrise on 7th May if you are volunteering on this day.

Skills required for this role:

- Enthusiasm for supporting Pieta House

- Enthusiam for community building activity and events for the TU Dublin community.

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
