UCD Volunteers Overseas (UCDVO) is a registered charity in UCD. We are based within UCD Global and are governed by a Board of Trustees.

UCDVO’s Mission - In collaboration with UCD and partners, we create opportunities for transformative learning and responsible volunteering.
UCDVO 2023/24 Volunteer Programme will combine the best of global citizenship education with responsible international volunteering. We prioritise a responsible and ethical approach to international volunteering and global citizenship education to create a vibrant active citizenship programme.
The programme is structured around a series of global citizenship education courses, workshops and events carried out in a non-formal context and also includes approximately 4 weeks of volunteering overseas or online with one of our partners in India, Tanzania and Uganda.
The volunteering projects are developed with UCDVO’s partners in the following areas: public health (including nutrition and physiotherapy), education, livelihoods, agriculture and community development.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
UCDVO partners with the same organisations each year and we have built up strong relationships in each of the communities where our volunteers work, most recently in India, Tanzania and Uganda. We have also worked with partners in Haiti and Nicaragua.
As part of the volunteer programme, we organise short-term volunteering placements with our overseas partners. The placements are usually for one month and involve a variety of activities around health, education and community development.
Volunteers participating in the UCDVO programme come from all disciplines across the University Campus at very different stages of their university experience. General volunteer roles are open to UCD students, staff, faculty and alumni. Student Leaders will be selected from each group upon project allocation.
Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
