ABOUT GOSHH
GOSHH – Gender Orientation Sexual Health HIV is a voluntary, non-profit organisation which provides care and prevention services relating to LGBT, HIV/AIDS, Sexually Transmitted Infections, and Sexual Health issues to people in the Mid-West of Ireland. We strive to ensure that people have access to local services which match and exceed those available in the rest of the country. We provide a safe, confidential, welcoming environment for everyone we work with.
Our office is based in Limerick City and we work throughout the Counties of Limerick, Clare, and North Tipperary. We focus on the promotion of equality and wellbeing of all with a positive and respectful approach to sexual orientation and gender diversity. 

 

PURPOSE
Assist GOSHH by maintaining cover on the front of house reception desk during opening hours.

 

DUTIES
Greet all callers/visitors, take messages, deal with enquiries, and refer the individual to the   appropriate person within the GOSHH Team.
Deal directly with drop in requests for safer sex information and supply condoms as required.
Be available to provide clients with information on GOSHH services and those of external agencies
Participate in fundraising events.
Assist in the planning, organisation and delivery of events and awareness campaigns.

 

WHERE

GOSHH, Redwood Place, 18 Davis Street, Limerick, V94 K377.

 

WHEN

GOSHH opening times are 09:30 – 13.00 & 14.00 - 17:00 Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday. We open from 11.00 - 13.00 & 14.00 - 17.00 on Wenedsay.

Volunteers would be required to work a minimum of half a day per week. AM 4 hours and PM 3 Hours.

DURATION

Minimum 6 month commitment of at least half a day per week.

Supervision is a valuable and necessary resource available to volunteers. This is internal supervision provided by the volunteer coordinator on a regular basis. 

At GOSHH we encourage mutual feedback.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS OR QUALIFICATIONS

An interest in the areas of Gender, Orientation, Sexual Health and HIV.

Strong social and interpersonal skills.

Good communication skills.

A Willingness to learn.

Experience in the area is desirable but not essential.

Complete a Garda Vetting form which will be processed by The Garda Central Vetting Bureau in accordance with the Garda Vetting Act 2012.
Provide details of two people who can supply a character reference on your behalf.
