Description

Galway will be the cultural capital of Europe next year and as one of the largest cultural events in the world, Galway 2020 promises to deliver a year of thrilling, life-enhancing experiences through culture and the arts.  The exciting pan-European programme for the year will see events in unexpected venues and locations throughout the region, from music, dance, food, literature and visual arts to poetry, theatre, sport and largescale spectacle.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

The Wave Makers, will bring positive disruptive energy to our city and county and will make an invaluable contribution to the delivery of the year-long programme of events throughout 2020. 

Roles include:

– Stewarding at large-scale events
– Ushering
– Invigilating
– Meet and greet
– Front of house
– Merchandising
– Translating
– Digital volunteer roles

Skills required for this role:

Volunteering for a European Capital of Culture is an invaluable opportunity for individuals to make connections, give back to their community, meet new people, have access to the behind the scenes of events, and learn new skills.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
There is a wide variety of times, locations and activities throughout the year 2020 that will be open to volunteers to participate in. Every day of the week will offer an opportunity! You can choose the best time and place for you. Once-off events and more regular events each week - you choose what best suits your schedule! We ask for a minimum of 5 shifts for the year, there is no weekly commitment.

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week

Additional screening required for this role:
There is an application processes, with a face-to-face meeting taking place after registration. Wave Maker Volunteers are invited to training.
