Requirements:Tech/Science knowledge (an advantage)
Tech Space is a special interest club for young people aged 10+. The clubs activities are technology and STEM-based. Some activities include video making and editing, sound production, photography science crafts etc. Currently the club in Limerick are making a Zombie movie, they are also creating project for inclusion in Tech Fest being held in Google this November. The volunteers must be interested in young people. Training will be provided and applications and Garda vetting is part of the procedures.
We are looking for volunteers to facilitate activities with the members and support them to do the projects they want to do.
The club meets on Tuesdays at 7:30pm-8: 30 pm in the Learning Hub in Kileely, Limerick.
This opportunity would be of particular interest to students from science, computer and technology backgrounds, however, all applications are welcome.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Become part of a fantastic organisation. Get a chance to learn and practice facilitation skills. Become involved in group work, motivation of others and increasing your communication and leadership skills.
The volunteer leader will be tasked with supervision of young people however the role is more about enabling the young person to do more, be more and know more. The volunteer is integral in the encouragement and confidence building of the young people who are members. Ability to work as part of a team and report to the regional youth officer is important for the role.
Skills required for this role:
Open to learning and enthusiam. While tech/science knowledge is preferably it is not an absolute. Training is provided in being a leader and access to tech training is also available. Good communication skills is necessary. Interest in young people and their development. Foróige is about enabling young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their own development and in the development of their community. The use of technology is a tool to supporting this aim.
