VMM International are delighted to offer internship opportunies in the development sector in Kenya and Uganda under our short term volunteering programme. Those interested in pursuing a career in development will be aware that volutneering in the global south is a requirement for a majority of NGOs. By doing an internship through VMM, you will be supporting your career path while providing much needed assistance to the community.
The placements are self-funding and are for a minimum of three months.
The structured internships will ensure you get the maximum learning experience while helping the community. You will be placed with reputable and experienced NGOs, who have undergone due diligence with a proven track record of delivering high quality programmes in their community.
Internships are available in the following areas:
Proposal development, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building
Human Rights and Advocacy
Anti Trafficking (six month placement)
Research, innovative health technologies, gender rights
We recommend you enquire about potential funding available through your university for oveseas internships or study abroad programmes.
We require you to fundraise for your trip which is €2,600 for a three month placement. This covers accommodation, meals, insurance, pre-departure training, orientation, in-country airport transfers, 24 hour support and debriefing. Reductions are available for those who want to organise their own meals where facilities are available. You are responsible for your flights, visa and vaccinations.
VMM have sent thousands of volunteers to Africa over the past 50 years and we have received our Code of Good Practice comprehensive compliance award from Comhlámh in recognition of our standards of excellence. We know how to take care of our volunteers before, during and after placements.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:
Your role and responsiblities will be discussed with your on-site supervisor before the internship commences
VMM will discuss with you what your requirements are and assess the most suitable is for you, whilst ensuring real added value to the community and host organisation programmes
Every effort will be made to ensure the internship provides you with the valuable experience required

Monday to Friday unless otherwise agreed with your supervisor Weekends off
