Fantastic Interpreter Volunteers support our Crosscare information and advocacy staff to run migrant clinics with a focus on issues relating to housing, homelessness and social welfare.

We are looking for Romanian or Roma speaking volunteers with fluent English to join our team!

Volunteers will be supported and supervised at all times so no prior interpreter experience or knowledge of housing, homelessness and social welfare services is required for the role. These are skills that you will learn from this really interesting role whilst supporting people in need!

Roma Clinics: Wed 10am-1pm or 2pm-4pm .Volunteer Commitment every 3 weeks or fixed term options available for summer

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

  • To provide a confidential interpreting service through Roma or Romanian and English for clients who attend our Roma clinics
  • To assist Information Officers in providing an information and advocacy service to clients who present to our clinics through Roma or Romanian and English
  • To assist with translation of information leaflets and documents when required
  • To report any major issues with the service to your volunteer manager

Skills required for this role:

  • Fluent English and Roma or Romanian
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment to working with Crosscare Housing & Welfare Informations’ client group

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Roma Clinics: Every 3rd Wed 10am-1pm or 2pm-4pm or fixed term options for summer available.

Minimum time commitment per week:
1 hour p/week
