Requirements:No requirements, other than enthusiasm for water safety and working with young people.


1st Port Sea Scouts work with girls and boys that are interested in the outdoors (particularly watersports and the maritime environment) and learning different skills such as hiking, map work, pioneering, first aid, camping. rowing and cooking.

Sea Scout Leaders supervise and support young people aged ten to fourteen years in undertaking a range of fun activities. We have an immediate need for an additional female leader due to another volunteer taking time out due to work commitments.

Is training provided?: Yes

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

Weekly meetings learning skills for outdoor adventure

Outdoor adventures on approx 6 weekends during the year such as hikes, camps, sailing, rowing, kayaking, pool etc.

Option to attend week-long summer camp from 25 July to 2 August 2018 -

Skills required for this role:

Interest in water safety and working with young people

Any qualifications in water sports are beneficial but not essential

We have a high demand from girls at the moment (particularly in the 10-14 age group), so female adult volunteers are needed most, but all applicants welcome to make an application.

Details of time commitment needed for role:
Wednesday evenings 1830hrs to 2030hrs plus occassional weekend adventures (like day-hikes, camps and water activities).

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week
