Description

Limerick Youth Service has an exciting opportunity to volunteer as an Arts, Crafts & Bakery tutor at our Rathkeale Youth Space.

The lucky volunteers will work with our youth groups (5th & 6th Class) in nurturing their creative talents, develop their team building skills, making new friends and having fun! 

The positions are ideal for students who would like to get more experience working with young people in an after school youth work environment. 

The groups will take place every Monday or Thursday (3-5pm) at Rathkeale Youth Space, Abbey Court, Rathkeale, Co. Limerick V94 K6K7.*

Please note that Garda Vetting is required for this position.

Tasks that the volunteer(s) will be expected to undertake:

The successful volunteer(s) will need to:

  • Engage with young people (5th & 6th Class Primary School)
  • Encourage the young people to explore their creative side 
  • Draw, paint or create art projects 
  • Create & cook exciting recipes such as gingerbreadmen, muffins etc (this is for bakery applicants only)

Skills required for this role:

Successful volunteers must be:

  • Willing to engage with young people from different backgrounds & cultures
  • An interest in the creative arts, painting and/or cooking/baking 
  • Be creative, patient and willing to have fun

Details of time commitment needed for role:
There are two options available: Monday or Thursday from 3-5pm. Rathkeale Youth Space is located in Rathkeale, about a 40 minute bus journey from Limerick City.

Minimum time commitment per week:
2 hour p/week

Additional screening required for this role:
All volunteers will have to complete a Limerick Youth Service volunteer application form, Garda Vetting Form and take part in LYS volunteer training if needed.
